🧬 Biography

Dr. Abdelmuhsen Abusneina is an Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular Diagnostics, Faculty of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Benghazi, Libya. He holds a PhD in Biomolecular Sciences from Laurentian University (Canada, 2017), an MPhil in Molecular Oncology from the University of Nottingham (UK, 2004), and a BSc in Zoology from the University of Benghazi (1994).

He served as Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences (2021–2024) and as Chair of the Department of Molecular Diagnostics (2018–2019), where he led curriculum reform and revived the MiSeq FGx Forensic Genomics System — subsequently purchased by the Libyan government to identify remains from the 2011 war.

His research focuses on cancer cell metabolism, particularly glutamine addiction and apoptosis in proliferating cancer cells. He is a member of ASBMB, AAAS, and CSMB.
